Reading We can actually do some reading on this e-readers but how convenient and easy is it to the eyes, I bet most people just want something simple that does the job of simply an e-reader not some readers that would stand as a distraction because of all the perks of design that goes into it. The kindle reads like a real paper, the text are super sharp it also read well under the bright sun with no glare. The nook does not read well in the sun because it LCD is backlight therefore it cause glare.

This is so with the nook because it uses a colored lcd screen that are not known for conserving energy.

Navigation The older nook was a bit clunky and not that easy to navigate, but with the introduction of the nook color am able to navigate using the touch screen , but I don’t like the drag I experience when using this function, with the 5 way controller you can easily navigate to any point on the screen, it must faster navigating with the kindle than the nook. If you don’t use the nook for more than a minute it shut down to save battery, I just don’t like this at all I hope something will be done on this.

Book Format The nook use the e-pub book format which is used by most stores online to lend book, therefore you have more access to books in this format with the nook although there is a free program named caliber that allows you to convert an e-book with a different format to one that you want, but this does not work with copy protected e-books therefore you can not buy a book on amazon kindle and transfer it to your nook. This is because e-books on amazon are copy protected
Connectivity Wifi or 3G For those who have a wifi connected in their home or in their area can consider using the nook it is limited in option that I have seen one with a 3G on it and for someone like me who is not in a wifi area it very difficult for me to use. But with kindle am spoilt with option of connectivity because I can have a kindle with only the wifi or one with wifi and 3G, the later kindle with more connectivity option is more for people who move around a lot so as to pick any connectivity that meets the environment they found themselves. For the wifi connection on kindle you get not to pay any subscription your connection is free. You can also use it at any wifi hot spot of AT&T without any charge, if you will be choosing the 3G network kindle ensure you check if you area is listed if not you might want to stick with the wifi.
